Modern woman kills off elegance

British fashion designer Bruce Oldfield OBE, talked about the how fashion today and its wearers are far from what they used to be.

Best known for his couture occasionear, Mr Oldfield dresses Hollywood actresses, British and international royalty and European aristocracy. Some of his famous clients have included Faye Dunaway, Melanie Griffith, Jerry Hall, Joan Collins and the late Princess Diana.

He cites that the modern world today has substituted simplicity and elegance for shoddy mass-produced clothes. The noted fashion designer speaks of times when women were sophisticated and modest not only in what they wore but in their sense of character too.

He said, “It’s gone, hasn’t it? We’ve sort of lost it. In a way it’s become an age thing. I can think of a lot of women clients of mine who are well into their 50s or 60s who are still quintessentially very elegant, but there don't seem to be any role models among the younger women. I'd like to see a bit less make-up, a little less teasing of the hair.”

Have modern women lost all modesty and discretion, not only in their dress sense but also in their character? What’s your opinion on today’s woman?
