Man who failed exams for 40th time, gets
full marks for persistence

He'd get full marks for persistence, but that's not a qualification that would mean very much to Shiv Charan Yadav.

The 74-year-old Indian farmer has been taking - and failing - his high school exams every year since 1969 and has just flunked again for the 40th time.

He has vowed not to get married until he passes the exams, which are normally given to schoolchildren at the age of 15.

Despite his best efforts, the 74-year-old passed only one exam - in Hindi. He said he found mathematics particularly hard, blaming the subject for dragging down his score.

But there is always next year. 'As long as I am alive, I will go on taking examinations in order to get a wife,' vowed Mr Yadav.

A neighbour said: 'He is probably the worst student in the world but God has tested him a lot, now luck should smile on him.'

Should this man give up with the exams? Where could he be going wrong? Have your say on the forum now.
