Earthquake hits the UK

Last week, the first earthquake in 24 years hit many parts of the UK. Tremors were felt in London, Newcastle, the West Midlands, Norfolk, Cumbria, Yorkshire, as well as parts of Wales. According to the British Geological Survey (BGS), the epicentre of the earthquake was near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire.

The main 10 second quake, which struck at almost 1am in the early hours of Wednesday 27th at a depth of 15.4km, was the biggest recorded since one with a magnitude of 5.4 which struck in 1984. Mike Thomas, chief fire officer for Lincolnshire, said crews had been called out to a number of incidents and one fire as a result of the earthquake.

The earthquake caused damage to buildings and left some fearing for their lives. Student, David Bates, 19, was left with a broken pelvis after the chimney of his home caved in and trapped him. One resident of Sheffield said, "The kids were screaming and so was my wife. It was that violent you actually moved yourself."

The occurrence of the earthquake, as well as other natural disasters always acts as a reminder that sometimes life can be much shorter than anticipated. Furthermore, when such incidents do take place, it also becomes more apparent that ones life is not in his or her own hands. Thus, it also prompts many to think about the afterlife and their own outcome, should the worst happen. Unfortunately, the majority of individuals experience a lot of uncertainty and have many questions when pondering on life after death.

However, at the UCKG HelpCentre, there is always someone available who is able to help with any uncertainty about the afterlife; with the ability to answer any question you may have. Furthermore, meetings on Wednesday and Sunday are dedicated to help individuals to prepare for their eternity. Therefore, though a person may be unable to correctly predict when such natural disasters happen; they may be able to rest assured, as a result of their uncertainty about life after death being eliminated.

If you have any questions or concerns about life after death, please visit one of our HelpCentres or call 020 7686 6000, where someone is waiting and willing to answer your query.
