Bleak forecast for UK marriages
The latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures show that the marriage rate for men was 22.8 per 1,000 and 20.5 for women, the lowest rate since records began in 1895. Another study has found that almost half of divorces occur before marriages reach their tenth anniversary. The rate drops to below 31 per cent for couples married for 20 years and to 15 per cent beyond that.
