All About Women Convention
As the big day arrived, ladies from different walks of life and age groups queued outside the Kilburn UCKG HelpCentre early in the morning and by 12 noon the queues had already mounted. As the ladies awaited the start of the event, stands were available to view different things that related to women, while the set of the All About Women convention lit up the atmosphere. The event started with the presenters Chris Boodram, Nancy Mbugua, and Lisa Zapata of ‘All About Women’, along with Nanda Bezzera and Maria Hill of the Portuguese women’s programme ‘Coisas de Mulher’, as well as Judith Oryem of ‘Your Say’ coming out and keeping everyone engrossed in an interesting topic - as well as adding a range of hilarious comments, jokes, singing and even dancing! Denice Bradnock wowed the audience with her amazing performance as she sang ‘I’m alive' by Celine Dion. The audience were on their feet singing and dancing along. To top it off was the moving real life story of Appolonia Hango - a survivor of domestic violence and now leader of the RAHAB group shared her story and gave practical tips on the things that helped her not only to overcome the abuse but that also transformed her husband. The event finished with the promise of another women's mega event in February and with the distribution of the lovely goody bags carefully prepared by Convention volunteers. If you were there on the day, why not send in your comments and let us know what you thought of the event? You can also check out the convention pictures.
