A cultural day
“We had a lot of new and random people, who stopped and joined in,” said Robert Ashitey, who leads the fundraising group in Brixton. “We gave away many prizes including a Philips DVD player, an eating frenzy voucher at Nandos, free Gym passes, and much more.” Those who took part in the cultural day, had the chance to show off their singing talent with an ‘open mic’ spot to sing a song in their native language. The South African dance performance was also a great hit with the audience. All in all the event was a great success and raised about £1,500 to go towards the refurbishment works of the HelpCentre in Brixton. Do you have great fundraising ideas and want to be part of the team who makes it happen? Speak to the fundraising coordinator at your local branch. Released on Friday 10th October 08
