Faithful or faithless?

“…So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was
found on him, because he believed in his God.”
(Daniel 6.23)

There are many possible ways to live. It is a matter of making choices and then accepting the outcome that each of these choices bring. For instance, you can choose to lead a healthy lifestyle by exercising, eating sensibly and not indulging in greasy or high calorie food. Or, you can choose to treat yourself to oily takeaways, high calorie meals and deserts and don’t exercise at all.

Those who choose to sacrifice by working out and cutting down on unhealthy food will then enjoy the benefits of having good health and a fit body, while the others will have to deal with obesity and the diseases that this condition usually brings. This applies to everything in life. There are always choices to make but, before choosing, you must bear in mind the results you want and then decide what you will do.

When it comes to faith, you can even announce you’ve chosen to be faithful, but if you take an honest look in the mirror, you’ll realise that your daily decisions will beg to differ! If you lie, cheat, are proud, and don’t follow the scriptures, you are not living by faith. It does not matter if you do some things right and others wrong; being faithful means to be full of faith in all circumstances.

If you choose to be faithful, be sure you’ll have to clash with the world many times. You’ll often find yourself in a difficult position, and you’ll definitely be tempted to deny your faith. But every time you persevere, you give God the opportunity to show clearly that He is with you.

If you choose to be faithless, on the other hand, you cannot expect to be rescued by God in your time of need. You cannot demand His presence to be with you wherever you go or His blessings to be upon whatever you do. Remember that God responds to faith.

That is why Daniel decided to remain faithful and not to bow before the golden image. He did not stop his daily devotion to a God. What made him believe that he would survive the lion’s den? Faith!

Deep down, Daniel knew his people were captives because of the choices they made, to live a faithless life. All their disappointment was caused by their own faults, and Daniel wasn’t about to make the same mistake.

Note that God did not impede Daniel from being thrown into the lion’s den, which we can identify as the hardships we go through in life. But then again, that’s just the way He can show you and those around you the rewards of faithfulness. Now that you know the facts, which one will you choose to be, faithful or faithless?
