Tug of war!

Every human soul represents an angry dispute between God and the devil. This battle never ends in a draw and there are no deals.

Every time a person hears the Word of God and the word of evil and he is not able to choose between them - allowing conflict of thoughts - the mind becomes the battlefield.

However, choosing God is not as easy as you may know, for evil thoughts almost always agree with the lusts of the flesh - the human will. This happens because a person’s will is never subject to the voice of the Holy Spirit, but rather to his own’s voice. In this aspect, the devil takes advantage, for he can count on the human as his ally.

“Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?(Romans 6.16)

This way, we see that we can determine who is going to be our master by choosing whose voice we want to obey. Now you understand why this dispute never ends in a draw!

To serve God means to deny one’s own will; in exchange, the person receives abundant life, as promised by His Son. If one’s life has no quality, he must see who has been his master and then make the decision to stop serving him immediately.

Actually, the life of a servant is in the hands of his master. If the master is good, the servant will have an abundant life; if the master is evil, the servant will have a
miserable life.

We know that everything that opposes the Light pleases the darkness, and vice-versa. Obedience to the Holy Bible pleases God and displeases the devil.

The Lord teaches those who want to follow Him that, “… whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things.(Philippians 4.8)

It is impossible to follow two different ways, in the same way it is impossible to serve two masters whose views are completely different. Either one practices the thoughts of God - which lead to victory - or…

When a person submits to the thoughts of God, the result is positive in all aspects, for whoever thinks like God is never defeated.

Our future depends on the choices we make today, according to the thoughts we follow. The decision is entirely up to the person; neither God nor the devil can impose their will. Let’s be wise in our choices.

May God bless you all abundantly,
Bishop Edir Macedo
