Are you a lion or a rabbit? This one thing can make a big difference
“The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous
are as bold as a lion.” (Proverbs 28:1)
It is not by chance that the lion is called the king of the jungle. Have you ever seen one in pursuit of its prey? He might not be the biggest, strongest, fastest or smartest animal, but boy is he bold!
Lions have a confidence that intimidates other animals and commands complete respect. They do not fear or second-guess themselves; instead, they believe in their potential.
Unfortunately many Christians mistake this confidence for pride, and so confidence is a characteristic that many Christians lack. However, there is a secret to not confusing the two: don’t focus on being brazen, focus on being righteous!
Brazenness without righteousness is just arrogance! It is like demanding something that you are not entitled to. You can only be that assertive when you know your rights and are absolutely sure that you are ‘on the right side of the law.’
"You can’t pretend to be something that you are not."
The Church already knows that it needs boldness, confidence, and strength. But this power can only be achieved through total surrender to the Lord Jesus. Only then can you have the assurance of His acceptance, blessings and forgiveness - that’s what being righteous is.
And if those who are righteous are as bold as a lion, then those who are wicked (unrighteous) become as fearful as a rabbit. Rabbits always try to hide behind bushes and run away from problems. They are never able to face difficult situations with a positive mindset. They are even scared of their own shadow!
