A Real Test of Endurance

“For on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel, says the Lord GOD, there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me”
((Ezekiel 20.40))

“How is it that I serve God, but my life does not change?” Many sincere and devoted Christians constantly ask themselves this question and don’t seem to find an answer. They’ve abandoned sin, they strive to live righteously, they’ve accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour, so why is life still so sour? Well, I believe that the Word of God has the answer they are looking for. If you can relate to this, read on. “For on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel, says the Lord GOD, there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me.” (Ezekiel 20.40)

The first thing that calls our attention to this specific Bible verse is that God wants to be served on His holy mountain, a high place. Just as people in the past had to overcome all obstacles to climb the mountain and be closer to God, we must do the same. In His sovereignty, God specifies what He wants and where He wants it, so that His name can be glorified through the exaltation of our lives.

Unfortunately, many Christians, however good their intentions, only offer God what they want to offer, and where they want to offer it. This is not really serving Him, is it? They would rather stay in their comfort zone, than draw closer to God on His Holy Mountain. While they are in the valley, they are down –  at the same level as unbelievers But as people of God, you are not supposed to be in the valley.

Everyone is invited to climb their mountain and reach the top. Everyone is invited to face their fears and get ready for the climb that will bring changes to their lives. But not everyone is willing to do whatever it takes to conquer the height of their mountain. Continue the reading to see the promise for those who are willing. “Here I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the first fruits of your sacrifices, together with all your holy things. I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles.” (Ezekiel 20.40-41)
