1. Use the Chains of Prayer to overcome your problems
At the heart of what happens daily at the UCKG are the Chains of Prayer. This is what we call an agreement of faith between you and the pastor to pray regularly over a problem you’re facing. We strongly believe in the power of prayer and have witnessed some amazing testimonies of it. As opposed to praying occasionally and aimlessly about your problem, you will find it much more effective to tackle it through a consistent Chain of Prayer every week.
We find that when we set a specific prayer target (for example, to clear our debts, cure a child’s drug problem, resolve marriage conflicts, etc.); when we use the power of agreement prayer (having the pastor agree with you in prayer); and when we persevere without giving up - our prayers bring much more results. It’s easy to just ‘go to church’ and not get anything out of it. We don’t want that to happen to you. So if there is a situation in your life that doesn’t seem to be getting any better, speak to your pastor today and he will help you start a new Chain of Prayer immediately. And remember, a Chain of Prayer is over only when your problem is over.
2. Key services to attend
The UCKG is open seven days a week and holds at least four daily services. We’re really happy we can be there for you every day. Each day of the week is themed around one area of your life. Check our timetable to see what we mean. It’s a good idea to speak to us to know exactly which services will be most suitable for you. But of course you’re welcome to drop in at any meeting you like.
There are a couple of meetings, however, that we ’d like to highlight for you. First let us tell you why. At the UCKG, our vision is to help you achieve spiritual independence. In other words, to connect you to God directly without the need of a middleman. That requires that you learn how to use your faith, how to pray effectively, and to develop a personal relationship with God. The meetings that will help you with that are Wednesday and Sunday morning meetings. These meetings are not Chains of Prayer. You should see them as investing in your spiritual life. We cannot emphasise their importance too much.
3. We value your freedom
The apostle Paul said, “And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognised as obsolete. We're free of it! All of us!”
(2 Corinthians 3:17)
We believe God has called us to freedom, not to bondage. The best worship we can give to God is the worship that comes from our free will. Therefore, at the UCKG you are free to make your own choices - to make a Chain of Prayer or not, to be a tither or not, to pray aloud or quietly, to live in sin or live holy, to give offerings or not, to get involved or keep to yourself, to get baptised or not, etc. No one should put pressure on you to do anything.
You will, however, hear the Word of God preached as it is. The message will be explained to you clearly. But it’s up to you to follow it or not. Again, we take advice from Paul: “It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don't use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom.” (Galatians 5:13)
If you hear or experience anything in the church that prompts a question in your mind, speak to a pastor or an assistant without delay or call 020 7686 6000 to speak to someone. Faith doesn’t work whilst we’re entertaining doubts or questions in our minds.
