The first day I came, it was the Lord’s Supper and I remember the bishop was saying, ‘Maybe your life is down and broken. You don’t know where to start and you’re tired of acting, so examine yourself before taking this. No one has ever asked me to examine myself before taking the Lord Supper. That was so new to me; in the other places I’d visited I’d just take it. The bishop also said that my life could get better. There was something different about this place. I realised I needed help for every area of my life after going through the timetable of meetings in the City News.

My  finances were a mess, as I could not hold on to a job for more than three months. My health wasn’t good and to make matters worse I suffered with spiritual attacks at night and terrible nightmares.  I made Chains of Prayer on Monday for my finances, Tuesday for my healing and Friday for deliverance. As I did this the constant headaches and nightmares just disappeared and for the first time I was able to hold down a job.

The changes strengthened my faith but what sealed it was a healing I received after a smear test revealed abnormalities in my cervical cells. Doctors wanted me to have laser treatment because the abnormality could lead to cancer in later life. On Tuesdays I prayed asking God for my healing and anointed myself with Holy Oil. When I went for the surgery, they did a pre test and they couldn’t find where to do the treatment - everything was normal.

I realised I was on to something. I was praying and I was getting answers. Things were finally looking up. Today my life has turned around completely. I’m financially stable, my health is restored, I no longer suffers with nightmares or constant headaches, and am now happily married and have one child with another on the way. I went from being angry with God to doing everything for Him. I found something in the UCKG that I never had before.

I like the way people are challenged to use their faith and talk to God. I did and He answered me and that’s why I decided to stick with Him.
