As far as Otilia Garcia’s husband was concerned, their marriage was over. He left her and moved to another country to start a new life.
Otilia couldn’t accept the end of her marriage and was prepared to do whatever it took to bring him back. She lived in Portugal at that time and had easy access to people who practised witchcraft. Otilia began paying these witchdoctors who promised that they could bring her husband back to her.
After spending lots of money but seeing no results, Otilia moved to London where she began attending the UCKG in 2002.
“When the Bishop started talking about the Campaign of Israel, I knew that I had to take part. I had already lost a lot of money through witchcraft and so had nothing to lose by sacrificing my all in the Campaign. I wanted my marriage back.”
Otilia made a sacrifice of one week’s wages. She didn’t have a high paying job and so had no savings. Her wages were all she had for herself and her two children.
“It was difficult giving my all; I didn’t even pay my rent for that week because I was really determined to call God’s attention through my sacrifice. I had never done anything like this before.
“As I presented my sacrifice, I took a deep breath and said, ‘God, it’s done.’ I had done my part and so trusted that God would answer with a miracle.”
Since making that sacrifice in 2002 Otilia did make contact with her estranged husband. He came back to her and since then neither of them have looked back on their marriage. That Campaign of Israel was so successful for Otilia that she decided to take part in the next one, this time for her finances.
“I was working in a hotel as a maid. But a male colleague left and so I was given his work to do. I was given the extra work, but no extra job title and no extra wages.”
Otilia’s work colleagues used to tease her about her new ‘unpaid’ position. They called her the woman with no job description and advised her to go back to being a maid. Throughout this time Otilia kept on doing her best at work, believing that God would honour her faithfulness.
But when the Campaign of Israel came along, Otilia saw it as her opportunity to present her case to God. Once again, she sacrificed her all and today, she happily tells of her blessing.
“God has really answered my prayers. I’ve been promoted to line manager and have been responsible for organising functions for over five thousand people. My wages have also gone up six times more than what I previously earned. All this has happened because I took the Campaign of Israel as a challenge of my faith.”
