I was diagnosed with chronic depression. This depression made me lay about the house, making excuses for not going out. There were days that I didn’t bathe, comb my hair, eat or sleep properly. Because of my depression, I didn’t go to work. I owned a holiday home in the Caribbean but was having no luck renting it out. The bills piled up and I ended up with over thirty thousand pounds of debt. I owed money to an international bank, to my visa cards and for my mortgage. At my lowest point, I was tempted to go out on a crime spree so I could end up in prison and escape my horrible way of life. I decided to take part in the Campaign of Israel after hearing people testify about how they had been blessed when they took part. Making my sacrifice was hard. But I felt strong inside because I wanted to test God. I wanted to prove that He was still alive. Soon, I got a phone call from a friend saying he wanted to rent my holiday home. He gave me a cheque for 2 years of rent all at once. With that money, I paid off the bank and the credit cards, refurbished my holiday home and got up to date on my mortgage. I got a good job and no longer felt depressed. Today I am a new woman. Sacrifice taught me how to trust God and also how to challenge Him for a better life. I enjoy life so much now and have perfect health. May Balasal, Life can be different if you take charge and decide to make things different.
