I’m not coming back

One day, I left for work early in the morning as usual, whilst my husband, of 20 years (Manuel) was sleeping. But this time, when I returned, I didn’t find him at home. What greeted me instead was a note saying, ‘I’m fed up of you in my life and that’s why I’m going. I’m not coming back! Bye!’

I was devastated, I cried so much and prayed everyday for him to come back to me. My son was very angry that his father had disappeared and didn’t even send a letter.

I admit that the marriage wasn't going well at the time. I became very moody and he thought that I didn’t appreciate him. However, I never expected for one second that he would leave me.

Manuel was away for 8 long months although he called after 5 months on my birthday and again on Christmas day. But I was desperate to get him back.

A friend invited me to the UCKG HelpCentre and I began to participate in the prayer meetings which strengthened me during those difficult months. However, along with the prayers, I was learning something vital that would change my marriage and life forever.

Through what I heard in the services, I was able to recognise my faults and started to work on changing my character. I wanted to be a different person and worked hard to change. When I heard about the Campaign of Israel, I didn’t hesitate to take part and make a request to get my husband back.

Soon after, Manuel finally came home apologising for going away and saying how much he missed me. Manuel has seen many changes in me since his return. Before, the communication between us was very bad and I would always complain for no reason. Now, everything is fine. Everything is going well and we are very happy together.
