“He was on a life support machine and was still getting worse! He had multiple organ failure, including the collapse of his lungs.
“Just like any mother would. I cried and cried as I watched my son lying on that hospital bed. The hospital allowed me to move in there as I just couldn’t go home.”
Beneath the tears lay a faith that refused to accept this as the end of my son’s life. My husband went to the UCKG and explained everything to the pastor, who gave him a bottle of the Holy Oil from Israel.
“At first we just started anointing him everywhere – his hands, feet, face etc. We were hoping for a miracle. But nothing happened – well nothing good anyway!”
His condition continued to deteriorate. His body was not releasing any carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is the waste gas that is produced when carbon is combined with oxygen as part of the body's energy-making process. Dave being in respiratory arrest meant that his body was suffocating on the excess carbon dioxide.
“This is when the doctors said that there was nothing more they could do. They sent me to go and get some sleep, promising to call me if his condition worsened. I refused to believe that. Although I was crying, deep down, I had an assurance that God wouldn’t fail me.
“It was like my faith was kicked into motion as I took the Holy Oil and this time anointed him with faith.
“I anointed his chest and his back because that’s where the problems were. As I did this, I asked God to close the holes that were spitting out blood. “Before going to sleep I determined that my son would make it through the night.”
In the morning I walked into the hospital ward and met a very surprised nurse. “She was in shock saying that Dave seemed to be breathing unaided. It was a really happy moment, but not a surprising one; I wasn’t at all shocked with this good news, because I truly believed that God would do something that night.
“When the doctor arrived to suck out the excess blood, nothing came out! All that he was able to get was old blood from the night before.
“They then sent Dave off for various scans but the doctor came back saying that his collapsed lungs had now expanded! Dave was taken off intensive care and is now fit and healthy.” His elated parents describe this as nothing short of a miracle.
