I felt like a failure. All my friends were moving on and I wasn’t. I left uni and couldn’t find a permanent job with career prospects. So I went for hotel work, and as the years went on, it got harder to get the job that I wanted. When the Campaign of Israel came along last December, I saw it as an opportunity to deal with this problem once and for all. I was at a point where things HAD to change - I just wasn’t going anywhere. I had been saving up to move out of my family home, but I decided to sacrifice that money instead. After making my sacrifice, I decided to start applying for jobs all over again. But at the same time my boss’ attitude completely changed and he offered me a permanent position. When I sacrificed I believed that I could do even better and so I negotiated a four thousand pound pay rise as well. I also started taking on the work of a project manager - because that is what I wanted to become. It’s no coincidence that straight after I sacrificed, my career moved on. Today I work as a personal assistant to the head of finance and planning. For someone who was stuck, I am now moving into project management. Many doors have opened up for me. For example, I’ve had the opportunity to work with one of the most senior Human Resources executives of this country. I’ll probably still be on a temporary contract if it wasn’t for the Campaign. I’ve learned that you can have all the qualifications on paper, but only God can guarantee success.
Flossy Keelson-Anfu, On the 17th June you will have your chance to do just as Flossy did and grab the opportunity to make your dreams come true. For more information on the campaign call the 24 hour helpline on 020 7686 600 or visit your local UCKG.
