An unlikely love story

I was born into a wealthy family and lacked nothing. I enjoyed a lavish lifestyle of luxury cars, expensive shoes, beautiful apartments, and a boyfriend who spent money without qualms. I never dated men who were younger than me because if I wanted a pair of Gucci’s they would question the £500 price tag.

My boyfriend was a lot older and spoiled me rotten, but in my mind I knew that I would never marry him; it was just a bit of fun. Marriage and children were never top of my list. I wanted expensive things and great holidays; not a husband to tie me down!

But I was crumbling inside as I realised that all of my material possessions couldn’t fill the emptiness I felt. I ended the relationship and things got difficult because I was used to someone being at my beck and call. All of a sudden I had to start planning and budgeting and it was very hard. The same week that I ended her relationship, I met Clement who had been in a long-term relationship which left him broken hearted.

He asked me out for dinner but I refused saying that I wouldn’t go out for dinner with someone I didn’t know, so he asked me out to lunch instead!

I accepted the invitation and during our meal I noticed that Clement wasn’t intimidated by me as other men had been. This intrigued me. We spoke about everything and I realised that he wouldn’t let me overpower him. I saw that he was a really strong man who knew what he wanted. I also loved the way he would chase me, because I was a bit of a challenge! If I was going to marry anyone, it would be someone like Clement.

Within the space of five months we got married. We were extremely happy and celebrated our union with three extravagant weddings and a dream honeymoon in the Bahamas. Everything was perfect until reality struck.
