The woman with the mangled spine

I had a very rocky marriage. One day during a disagreement, out of nowhere, my husband just lifted me up like a rag doll and threw me across the other side of the room.

My neck was weakened from then. Every now and again it would just suddenly freeze and lean towards the left shoulder and I’d be like that for days. The pain would be there constantly.

I also had lots of other health-related problems that went on for years: I couldn’t sleep at night because I always sensed as if somebody was around me. I couldn’t use soap to bathe because it made my body burn and because of this I had to wash myself so many times a day, just to be clean. Nobody knew what was wrong with me because it wasn’t an allergy.

My stomach was constantly heavy as if I had lead in there.So I went for surgery, but something went wrong and I was left with a huge medical bill and no results. The pain and heaviness was still there.

At this time there were so many other problems in my marriage. It had been nine hellish years and I was finally getting a divorce.

One day, I felt a lot of pain in my back and I couldn’t move. From that time onwards, my right side, from top to bottom was completely paralysed. Whenever I had to move, it was always the left side that did the work; my son’s nanny would help me, as I would drag my leg along the floor so I could get around. I went to a specialist who said that my spine was completely mangled. That it was similar to that of a sick 80-year-old woman - I was only in my late 20s at the time.

I decided to go to the UCKG HelpCentre. I was mobile at this time but my leg wasn’t strong; it was really heavy and I was still on treatment and in a lot of pain. I was still having sleepless nights as well as the skin and stomach problems.

On my first visit, one of the pastors welcomed me and I spoke to him after the service. He prayed for me and immediately I felt a lot better. I walked out of the HelpCentre with my head up for the first time in a long time. That night I slept very well, in fact I overslept! And felt so good the following day.
